Lexcel is the Law Society’s Practice Management quality mark, based on best practice as regards developing management techniques for Law Firms to achieve greater cost efficiencies, reductions in risks and improvements in client care. Much originates from considerations as to how to substantially reduce the number of common complaints by clients to the Law Society/Solicitors Regulation Authority and indeed claims to Professional Indemnity Insurers.
Greater competition makes it imperative for Firms to have far more thorough financial, information and people management plans and processes than in the past and to develop “policies” (a general reasoned approach rather than just a statement) as to many best practice issues such as risk management, quality, avoidance of discrimination, anti-money laundering procedures and health and safety.
Lexcel overlaps with the Conveyancing Quality Standard and other quality standards such as ISO 9001:2008, Investors In People (IIP) and the Legal Services Quality Mark (SQM). It also overlaps with some sections of the SRA Code of Conduct 2011 so Lexcel can help practices to comply with the Code. |
